Do Not Be too Negative

Often a lot of emphasis nowadays is placed on things being negative; without understanding it is how you act, which is the key. It is important to understand that negative energies are part of the universe and part of the circle of life; as night is to day, or ying is to yang. Realise that negative energies exist and are necessary to maintain the balance in the Universe. Knowing that there is a natural flow of energy from negative to positive to form a complete circuit, in the same way that the field of a magnet flows from north to south and then back through the body of the magnet.

The key to understanding negativity is how you react to life and living. You can choose to react to negative energies and become involved in the emotional consequences. Alternatively, you can pause, keep your balance, and choose not to react. In effect, you are staying neutral to the negative influences.

The Space Between your Thoughts

Witnessing the space between your thoughts can be an effective means to help you calm your mind and achieve aspects of meditation.

It can be common to hear people ask “How can I clear my head when I meditate?” Often, the more you try, the more that your thoughts seem to arise. This can be entirely expected, as trying to clear your head is also a thought.

So do not try to get rid of your thoughts, as for most people, this will not work. Instead, you need a way to bring focus to the mind, through a process called Ekagrata. Even in a noisy or chaotic mind, there will be spaces between your thoughts. So instead of focusing on the thoughts which you are trying to push aside, apply your focus on the space or gap between the thoughts. All the while, as you continue to focus on the space between the thoughts, witness this space become larger, so that it fills more of your mind. Continue to focus on the space so that it pushes more and more of your thoughts to the side of your mind or your thinking. Gradually this quiet space will grow to provide you with an opportunity to have some calmness of mind, from which you can continue with your other mindfulness or meditation activities.

Mindfulness is Just the Beginning

The modern practices of Mindfulness are a distilled portion of the eastern meditative process, which through attentive thought, provides awareness of the world within and around you based on the current moment.

Once you have mastered the basic principles of Mindfulness, you can then direct this learning to assist you in mastering your thoughts and emotions.  As you learn about this part of your being, you realise the true and hidden potential of your Life Force. Through the combination of your Life Force energies to focus the intentions of your Mindfulness activities, you can reach new levels of understanding and achieve greater wellbeing in your life.
