Know Yourself First

One of the aspects of attunement, awakening or meditation which is often overlooked by those starting on the journey, is the importance of knowing yourself.

If you do not understand yourself, your thoughts, emotions, reactions, aspirations and fears, then you will always struggle to be in harmony within yourself. Any form of awakening or meditation will lead to an inevitable increase in the energies of your true self. As these energies increase within you, if left unchecked, they can cause issues as they feed your own emotions, reactions and fears. If you do not know yourself, you may seek to blame others for your problems, when in fact the challenges are within you caused by the awakening of your own inner energies feeding aspects hidden deep within your own persona.

Without this knowledge of yourself, you cannot know who you appear to be, even though you are you. This is a paradox, to say the least; but one which must be overcome.

What is Modern Meditation?

Modern meditative practices have been influenced by Eastern philosophy, yoga, Hinduism and Buddhism; combined with some aspects of Western culture to evolve into a range of various techniques. Many of these techniques aim to bring serenity and balance within you, allowing access to other realms of consciousness. Most of the practices involve the participant setting aside some specific time during the day for undertaking their meditations.

Over recent decades, modern meditation has morphed, with mindfulness programs bursting onto the scene. Their key tenant is to live in the moment with non-judgmental awareness. Many modern meditative practices include techniques such as: mindful breathing, the body scan meditation, or letting thought arise and pass.

All techniques have their place. Ensure that you task your meditative practices with renewed focus, to help you adequately deal with the challenges of life. In whatever form of meditation you perform, always apply your focus and set clear intentions for the greatest benefit.

Listening to your Thoughts

If you pause for a moment to listen to your thoughts, you are likely to find that most of the thoughts you have do not register within your consciousness. However, you may observe that you are reacting to these thoughts without you realising it. Take the opportunity to listen to your thoughts as they enter the mind, like an outside observer. Then strive to catch hold of any negative or damaging thoughts before they take hold within your consciousness. Then push such thoughts out of your consciousness, indicating that you do not want them to be part of your life.

In order to master your thoughts, you have to learn to listen to your own thoughts. Skills acquired through Life Force mindfulness, meditation and cognitive practices can all help you to listen to your own thoughts as the impartial arbiter.

What is Active Intellect?

As individuals, each of us differs from one another in our ability to understand complex ideas, to adapt to our environment, to learn from experience and to engage in various forms of reasoning through the application of active intelligence. These differences are never entirely consistent as your intellectual capabilities will vary on different occasions and in different aspects of your life.

Active intelligence is the manifestation of intellect through free will or volition. Stop and pause for a moment to observe your own thoughts, then apply active intellect rather than just reacting to stimuli.

What are Emotions?

People often wonder: What is the basis of emotions which seem to rule many people’s lives? At the most basic level, emotions are lower level responses occurring within areas of the brain and mental form, in response to stimuli and thoughts. Emotions themselves are often short-lived, but lead to longer-term mental associations. Over time, your emotional responses are subjectively blended with personal experience, beliefs and memories to create your feelings.

Take the opportunity observe your thoughts and emotional reactions in life, so that you can choose how to respond, rather than just reacting with passive intellect.

Applying Knowledge

Knowledge can open your mind to expand the understanding of yourself. Through such knowledge, you may gain an understanding of why you act and think the way you do.

Achieving a quietness within, will enable you to bring forward many aspects of knowledge for success, harmony and balance.

Living your life with illumement

Illumement, like other practices such as meditation have many different connotations dependent upon the reason for undertaking them.

The achievement or practice of illumement requires that you bring all of your own energies (your Life Force energies as well as your thoughts and emotions) into a state of balance and harmony.

Through illumement, you will access the true energies of your Life Force and in turn illuminate your life. This allows you to surpass the achievements of mindfulness and positive thinking which are limited to the mental mind.
